The Women Behind The Brand
FOUNDED BY TWO YOUNG WOMEN WITH A LIFELONG PASSION FOR BOTH SCIENCE AND ART, MARMS & MEEKS IS THE FRUIT OF TAYLER JARVIS AND MEGHAN CHAMBERS.
Tayler grew up with her two sisters and plenty of dogs in the lower coastal plains of south Georgia. Ever since she was young, she knew she wanted to be a biologist. She loved the mystery of the ocean and the deep, natural beauty it provides. She received a B.S. in Biology and a Master of Science in Aquatic Toxicology from Valdosta State University. In 2013, she and her boyfriend Ryan made a cross-country voyage to the left coast and landed in Juneau, Alaska. Tayler is currently a Fisheries Biologist for NOAA's Alaska Fisheries Science Center. Tayler lives next to Lena Cove with Ryan, their dog Lily, their cat Berlioz, their rabbit Harriet, and their newt, Newtron.
Meghan Chambers grew up in remote fish hatcheries in Southeast Alaska, the daughter of two biologists. She and her sister enjoyed a childhood on the beaches of Southern Baranof Island, before the family made the big move north to Sitka, Alaska for their secondary education. After some travels in Europe and a few years at college in Portland, Southeast Alaska was calling her home. She graduated from University of Alaska Southeast with a B.S. in Biology and a Minor in Art. After meeting Tayler as a contract biologist for NOAA, Meghan made a switch to the art world and is the Program Manager for the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council. Meghan lives next to the Mendenhall Glacier, with her husband Lucas and their dog Meeko.
